Why This Matters

Holiday Lights Start Fires Every Year

These aren't scare tactics — they're National Fire Protection Association numbers (2020–2024 annual averages). This is what happens when holiday electrical work is done wrong.

143

home fires every year that begin with Christmas trees — causing an average of 7 deaths, 13 injuries, and $15 million in property damage (NFPA)

40%

of Christmas tree fires involve electrical distribution or lighting equipment — the #1 cause, ahead of candles and heat sources (NFPA)

1 in 3

of Christmas tree fires happen in January — after the tree has dried out and become far more flammable. Timely takedown matters. (NFPA)

$15M

in direct property damage every year from Christmas tree fires alone — before counting outdoor holiday light and decoration fires (NFPA)

Overloaded circuits. Daisy-chained extension cords. No GFCI protection. Lights nobody inspected. That's what the 40% looks like up close — and it's the exact work a handyman with a ladder won't catch.

In Pennsylvania, anyone can claim to be an electrician. There's no state license. So ask yourself: do you want the cheapest guy on a ladder, or the one who understands the power behind the lights?

How It Works

Designed, Hung, and Taken Down for You

Every package is quoted individually — your roofline, how much light you want, and whether I'm supplying it all factor in. You get the full estimated price in writing before your date is locked.

1

Design

We walk your roofline (in person or from photos), pick the look — clean roofline, peaks, trees, pathways — and measure everything.

2

Deposit at booking

A deposit locks your installation date on the calendar. No date is held without one.

3

November install

Lights go up with proper clips (no staples through your shingles or siding), on timers, powered from a real outdoor receptacle.

4

January takedown

Scheduled before I leave your driveway in November, so it's handled before you even think about it.

The Packages

Pick Your Level of Done

Every design package starts with a custom layout designed by Jason — mapped to your roofline, peaks, trees, and pathways. Not a generic pattern. Your house, your design.

Signature design + install

Jason designs a custom layout for your house — roofline, peaks, trees, pathways — then supplies commercial-grade LED strings custom-cut to that design. Exact lengths, no bunched-up leftovers at the corners. Design, clips, timers, and install included.

Install your lights

Already own lights you like? I'll hang them straight and safe, with proper clips and timers, and test every strand as it goes up.

Install + takedown

Either option above, plus January removal — every strand down, tested, coiled, and labeled by section so next year starts organized.

Full service with storage

Design, install, takedown, and storage — your labeled lights are stored for you until next season. You never touch a bin.

All packages are priced by quote after I see the house — confirmed with you before booking. New customers take 30% off labor on their first job. Veterans (DOD ID) & senior citizens take 20% off — booking included.

One-Story Homes Are the Specialty

Clean, Fast, Fairly Priced

Most of my holiday work is on one-story homes, and that's deliberate: it's where a clean, fast, fairly-priced install happens from ladders — no lift rentals inflating your quote, no crew trampling the roof. Ranch in Cheswick, Cape Cod in Oakmont, one-story in Verona or Plum — that's the sweet spot.

Two-story roofline? Call anyway and tell me what you've got; if it's a fit, you'll get a number, and if it's not, I'll tell you that too.

Your display is designed, installed, and taken down by the owner — an electrician first, so the power behind the lights is done right, not just the lights themselves.

Why an Electrician

The Electrician Difference

Most light hangers run your display off whatever outlet they can find, on a chain of extension cords. I'm an electrician first — the display gets powered like it matters.

Exterior GFCI checked

Your exterior GFCI receptacle is checked before anything plugs in — wet-location protection tested, not assumed.

No extension-cord chains

No cord chains across walkways and out windows; if your house needs a properly placed outdoor outlet, I'll quote adding one.

Loads kept sensible

LED strings, timers set to sane hours, and nothing sharing a circuit with your space heaters.

The same standard of care as every other job I put my name on.

Trained & educated in the field

Journeyman electrician, trained and educated in the field. Not a handyman with a ladder — someone who understands the power behind the lights.

Once-and-Done Alternative

Rather Never Hang Lights Again?

Permanent eave lighting is the once-and-done version: low-profile LED lighting mounted under your eaves, controlled from your phone, holiday colors in December and clean white light the other eleven months. My Permanent Eave Lighting package ($799 — 100ft + dedicated outlet, mounted & installed) is listed in the products section — ask about it when you call and I'll tell you straight whether it fits your house better than seasonal installs.

Good to Know

Common Questions

When should I book holiday light installation?
October. Booking in October locks a November installation date, gets the design settled before the rush, and means you're lit right after Thanksgiving instead of waiting on a December slot.
Do I have to buy the lights?
Your call. With the design + install package I supply commercial-grade LED strings cut to your roofline; with install-only, I hang lights you already own. Either way you keep the lights at takedown unless you add storage.
How does takedown and storage work?
Takedown happens in January — every strand comes down, gets tested, coiled, and labeled by section. With the storage option, your labeled lights are kept for you until next season; without it, they're packed and handed back ready for your shelf.
What does it cost?
It's quote-based — roofline, footage, and whether I supply the lights all move the number. You get the full estimated price in writing before a deposit locks your date. Call (412) 326-9761.
